The Valley of Death! Be Careful! Hiring Truly Effective Leaders/Managers is really hard!

Today we have many surveys and all of them confirm that the success of business is becoming increasingly dependent on the experience, know-how, ability and the skills of the people within the organization.
Today we have local and global companies and they are increasingly competing for the same market. On the other side there are increasingly changes in technology, services, customer needs, culture and lifestyle. When we look at GDP structures in economies; service sector is growing well and the others, industry and agriculture, are not growing due to the developments in technologies and processes or increasing automation and other reasons. Of course internalization of companies is creating challenges, opportunities and competition between local and global companies and a hypercompetitive business field is occurring for every company. This brings "The war for talent" as we have seen in the World Cup 2014.
Talent is the sum of a person's abilities; his/her experience, know-how, skills, intrinsic gifts, intelligence, character, attitude, judgement and drive. It also includes her/his ability in searching, learning, executing, problem solving and decision making.
The senior level leadership is one of the key areas in the success of business. Because they run the business. They should have the highly developed characteristics:
1- Authencity: The self-confidence and conviction are necessary to make hard decisions faster than competitors. Such leaders are likable, real and truly effective in communication and reaching people on an emotional level that moves the people. They are decisive and bold.
2- Visionary and Innovative: Truly effective leaders make competitive intelligence, long-term sector analysis, prepare, develop and implement the long-term marketing and innovation strategic plan, search and analyse changes in technology, services, lifestyle, customer needs and also existing and new competitors. They take necessary actions on time and faster than competitors. I believe that this is a special capacity to see the future and imagine the unimaginable.
3- Strong Penchant: Such leaders have the enough courage to bring teams together and they prefer to work with the truly effective leaders/managers to create operational excellence and organizational agility faster than competitors.
4- Strong Resilience, Agility and Emotionally Intelligent: Resilience, agility and emotional intelligence are linked and present in truly effective leaders. I have to say that such leaders should have though experience also.
I have worked in pharmaceutical and food industries and with many business leaders to whom I am grateful for their expertise and experiences after 1984 and now I know that authenticity is the top leadership success factor and it is followed by vulnerability, intuitive thinking and decision making, and tough empathy. I have also learned that behaviours like transparency, recognizing, promise keeping and trusting, respectful, fair treatment are fundamental for healthy engagement and collaborative working to create organizational alignment and agility. It is clear that human performance can be increased to the top level through strong, resilient, emotionally intelligent leadership and teamwork.
Therefore companies should work with the right and great leaders/managers. Such people should also have strong and effective experience, knowledge, integrity, intelligence, maturity, positive energy, energizing others, courage and execution.
Companies have to apply long-termism and work with the innovative leaders. These leaders have the daily and long-term habits for questioning, observing, networking, experimenting, and associational thinking to achieve high performance organization.
If you don't work with truly effective leaders you will find your business in the deepest part of "The Valley of Death" in the long-term. Be careful! Don't forget that average people can hire average or poor leaders/managers. This is a complex process. You can create profit in the short-term but you can not create growth and profit in the long-term.
If you work with the truly effective leaders/managers or winners you can create an organization that looks at business through customers' eyes. Work with the right people who win and create growth, profitability, competitive advantage and high customer value.
